Leave the bustling city of Dehradun behind and journey deep into the
Garhwal Himalayas. The drive takes you through winding mountain roads,
alongside gushing rivers, terraced fields, and charming hill towns. As you
ascend gradually, the air grows crisp and the views more dramatic. By
evening, you’ll reach Dharali—a peaceful village nestled on the banks of
the Bhagirathi River, surrounded by pine forests and snow-capped peaks.

Begin your day with a drive to the sacred town of Gangotri, where the trek
truly begins. The trail quickly immerses you in the wild as you navigate the
thrilling "Spider Walls"—narrow, exposed paths carved into steep mountain
faces. From there, the route winds through ancient forests of Bhojpatra
and towering deodar, whispering tales of time long past. As you climb
higher, the landscape opens up to offer stunning views of the surrounding
peaks, culminating in your arrival at the serene campsite of Bhoj Kharak.

Today’s trek, though shorter, involves a steady climb through rocky terrain
and alpine meadows. You’ll begin to witness towering Himalayan peaks in
close view, including glimpses of Thalay Sagar. Arrive at Kedar Kharak, a
spectacular campsite with panoramic mountain views and the roar of
glacial rivers nearby.

Trek Distance (one way): 3 km | Duration: 3 hrs

Begin early to reach the breathtaking Kedartal, a glacial lake
nestled in the lap of majestic peaks like Thalay Sagar and
Brigupanth. Its surreal turquoise waters and mirrored reflections
make the tough climb worth every step. Spend some time
soaking in the serenity before returning to Kedar Kharak for the
night.

Altitude: 3,100 m / 10,200 ft
Trek Distance: 14 km | Duration: 8–9 hrs

Retrace your steps back through the same route, descending
past the spider walls and birch forests. Once back in Gangotri,
take time to visit the sacred Gangotri Temple and reflect on the
incredible journey.

Drive Distance: 220 km | Duration: 7–8 hrs

Say goodbye to the mountains as you drive back to Dehradun.
